Athlete / A story of a path filled with perseverance
A journey to making trail running a way of life.
Meeting Elhousine Elazzaoui has been one of our great milestones this year, a lesson in humility, perseverance, and simplicity. He has been a professional trail runner since 2018, when he turned one of his great passions into his daily life. Since then, his name has resounded on the podium of major international races, and now, he is part of the NNormal team.
Elhousine started running as a child, while playing with other children in the desert of Southern Morocco, a place he describes with special affection for its climate and its people. He grew up in an environment with limited professional opportunities, although he was able to work for his brother’s travel agency for a few years.
In fact, he is certified as an official tourist guide in Morocco, and during the winters, he still returns to his native country to help his brother or whoever needs him: “I enjoy sharing moments with nomadic children, as I was during my childhood, and I like to be available for those who need me when I am there.”
“Being able to dedicate myself to my great passion since 2018 has revolutionised my life. Running and meeting the world’s best runners is priceless.”
For some years now, Elhousine has turned trail running into his way of life, something he greatly appreciates because it has allowed him to discover incredible places and meet people who have enriched him: “Being able to dedicate myself to my great passion since 2018 has revolutionised my life. Running and meeting the world’s best runners is priceless.” He also explains that hearing people cheering for him when he is participating in a race excites him and makes him feel at home.
During this time, he has positioned himself as the winner of the Golden Trail Series Final, Dolomyths Run, and StraLugano 10 Km City Run, in 2023. That same year, he finished second in Zegama-Aizkorri, and in 2022, he was one position away from the podium at Marathon du Mont Blanc.
Today, Elhousine lives in Switzerland and continues training to be able to participate in all those races he has been dreaming about for a long time.
